Trav, Jettie and Hughes drove me to the airport for WPPI, I soaked up every minute till it was time to leave. Asking Hughes and Jettie to take care of Dad and give him extra kisses from me and be good...you know, all the motherly bits of good-byes. Telling them I was going to the desert to meet friends and make new ones, go to classes and parties. Jettie asked her new favorite question...

Why?

well, Mommy loves meeting new people and learning more about photography

Why?

the more you know, the better you become

Why?

because mommy wants to do her very best taking pictures

Why?

mommy doing her very best means giving people pictures of how amazingly beautiful their life is

Why?

it makes mommy happy

Jettie stopped. Satisfied with the 5th why to get the true answer, photography and people make me happy. I'd like to believe she stored a little memory in her head for the future. Most of the time we stop at the first answer when the truth lies in the hard answer which takes a few why's to get to.

Gordon served our country in the Middle East so it wasn't until a few months before the wedding I met this amazing couple. I was immediately drawn to how gorgeous Beth is and Gordon kindness. On their wedding day it was exactly the same, plus they had the cutest bridal party ever:)

Life really is what you make of it. I'm learning this bit by bit, mostly through Hughes and Jet, they have no boundaries of what is exciting and how to make anything an adventure.

Adventure also does good for dogs. Our 12 year-old Westie enjoying the iced pond.

So in these cold winter months, have an adventure. Take a walk outside until your lungs hurt, build a fire, make soup, go ice fishing, kiss someone with a cold nose:)

01.02.2010 is a palindrome. It reads the same forwards as backwards which is very rare and only happens 9 more times this century. It also happens to be the wedding date of a very special couple. Their wedding was simply delightful, from beginning to end and backwards again. Why?

Courtney and Patrick married in their home, which was a church. Also, they had their engagement session in a church:)

Candles.

The couple went outside to get a few of just them even though it was a freezing 7 degrees.

Even the few formal pictures where awesome, they wore traditional wedding attire from where Courtney's sister, Whitney, is working in the Peace Corps.

Reception was at a venue I've been wanting to shoot at for a really long time, Lumen.

Courtney's other sister and past bride sang the song for the first dance.

You two are awesome! Thank you so much for haveing me photograph your wedding day!!

St. Louis has the most amazing churches, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

If you didn't see the wheat in Betsy's bouquet you'll have to go back up and check it out. Here are the pillows on the bride and grooms chair, such a great detail to carry the theme.

Sweet Ruby was the next friendly face. I instantly adore the entire family and it will be awesome to see Courtney and Patrick marry next year. Thankfully we don't have to wait too long because they are starting off Clary Photo's New Year...1.2.10 or as Courtney would say, 1-2 in the 'Lou'.

Fun fact, Courtney and Patrick are getting married in their home which is actually a beautiful church turned into a living space. So when we found this random church under construction it was perfect!!

Doesn't it look like this space was styled for Courtney and Patrick...all the gray on gray, red vines matching Courtney's hair?!

Second favorite.
