Clary Photo Couples have so much style, grace, kind hearts, awesome love stories and I'm so lucky to be a part of their wedding day. I walk away every time feeling blessed to photograph these cool people. The irony here is I am so not, cool.
Now, this is full disclosure time and attention must me paid to illustrate the above statement...forgive my honesty in advance:)
In grade school I never got excited about much of anything. Except 'gold spirit day' in which you dress in gold and receive a prize for your effort. AND believe me, I made the effort. Every spirit day I would don myself in the gold fringed number my grandma made especially for this event. I was oblivious to the fact of its ridiculousness and I loved it...
This general uncoolness continued in Jr. high with the skill of saying the most embarrassing things when I got super excited, my mind literally turned to mush when I opened my mouth. DARE was a program to teach kids to stay way from drugs and our class had the great Officer Lask. One day he was trying to connect things we sound try and not try. To start off this lesson he asked "What is something you've tried before that you think no one else has?" And, as fate would have it, Officer Lask called on me first thing. I got so excited about my answer...
"I've had octopus testicles!!"
Oh yes, I said testicles. In the middle of my sixth grade class. It only registered that I replaced testicles with tentacles when my teacher gave me the "GO OUT INTO THE HALL" look reserved for the worst Jr. High sins.
So high school arrived and I was still me, obviously my over the top fashion and said the most embarrassing things at the most inopportune time. Uncool was solidified with my general dreaming of becoming a National Geographic photographer in Algebra and History. Taking every art class I could to get me through. But there was this one guy who overlooked, or dare I say adored, this endearing trait.
That one guy, Travis, married me and now we spend our days with the above couples I mentioned before and to drive the point home...they are so lovely and cool. After one particular wedding that was above and beyond, we hugged the couple goodbye and walked outside, glowing from the joy. Travis turned to me...
"when did you become cool?"
I knocked him over with kisses
"you, think I'm cool?":):)
So thank you every couple and client for making my husband think I'm cool:)
And now I must replace the above image of the gold fringe dress with the amazingly COOL letterpress from The Firecracker Press.

Clary, First things first...you ARE cool....no question about it. And in regards to you & Travis, I love reading about your relationship, and hope some day to find a relationship that is as supportive and loving as yours with Travis!
I didn't know Clary when she wore the gold dress; so I can't offer any experience as to her coolness. I can say that it amazes me how much cooler and more beautiful she has become every year since 1997. I'm having trouble keeping up :)

Also, just to reiterate what everyone else says, I think you're about as cool as they can get. And if you insist on feeling "uncool," I generally like to describe myself as "tragically unhip", which sounds way more desperate than "uncool." Long live cool!

Yep, I think I am going to have to compete with the dorkiness. I have some lovely pictures - bowl haircut, buck teeth, dangly 80's earrings. Oh, the glam of it all.
