Welcome to the Clary Photo Blog!

Hi! I'm Clary, based out of the beautiful meadows of the Midwest and the fortunate photographer of the deeply, connectively, head-over-heels, crazy in love people you will enjoy during your visit.

I hope you find something exciting and explore the links at the top, they will take you to all the places you need to go!
1 cape cod rhode island wedding photographer clary.jpg
Erin and Darren's wedding took place along the Cape Cod shore with 60 of their closest friends and family witnessing. During the ceremony sail boats bobbed in the water and the reception overlooked the shore with blue hydrangeas centering each table. It was beautiful.

Erin's dad grew up in Boston so he's visited for over 50 years and when family vacation time rolled around, he took his family to Cape. Lindsay, Erin's sister, giggled during her speech about the long drive from St. Louis in the back of the station wagon while Neil Diamond played on the radio. She talked about the amazing memories they had growing up playing on the cool beach. And now they add Erin and Darren's wedding day to the list unforgettable moments.

Thank you Erin, Darren and Cosgrove family for inviting us to document and fall in love with Cape. We felt like another guest, like family, celebrate Erin and Darren. Thank you, we are so blessed.

1 chicago Illinois photographer wedding engagement.jpg
Kim and Andrew are very special to me.

I know about their high school courtship, their engagement in Jamaica where Andrew surprise Kim with all their family, and the dueling piano's at the upcoming wedding reception.

All without ever meeting them until the most anticipated engagement session of the year.

You see, Kim is the lovely sister to my dear friend Stephanie.

And I'm a bit overwhelmed with honor and excitement to show these and photograph Kim and Andrew's wedding day.

This pink sky and green meadow is breathtaking.

I squealed when Richard Photo Lab finished Jon and Jessica's session. As the files uploaded one by one my excitement grew and caught Hughes' attention. He nosed his way to the computer and started asking...

2 n film photographer clary photo.jpg"Are they real?" "Are they of this World?"

I smiled because they are fair questions.

"yes and yes, they do look quite dreamy, don't they?"

1 st. louis engagement downtown photography clary.jpg
Erin and Eric's engagement session came together magically. Honestly I was a bit nervous because they both wear glasses...all the time. So we wanted to respect the fact that and not have them off, even come wedding day. The second reason, it's a mess of weather in the Midwest and rain threatens on a regular bases making everything wet and not session friendly. Erin did her quick thinking to start on the rooftop of a loft in downtown St. Louis. The clouds, the city and the sweet spectacle couple make this my favorite St. Louis session ever!

first Milwaukee wedding photographer classic car.jpg
Brett and Amanda rode in the back seat of a beautiful classic car owned by the groom's father and best-man for 40 years! The Maid of Honor is Brett's younger sister. Amanda's brother stayed by her side the entire day to help wherever he could.  Brett and Amanda are high school loves who dance to Tom Petty and have two dogs they made a point to get pictures with on their wedding day. The wedding cake was cheese cakes made my Amanda and her aunt. Amazing details covered every bit of their wedding!! My favorite detail was the way Brett and Amanda honored their family, relationships and one another.

Thank you for having Travis and I all the way out to Milwaukee to celebrate your day with you! Congratulations and rock on Tom Petty!!

Hughes is playing his electric piano in his room, on is bunk bed and the tune is carrying across the house. I'm smiling about how he once fit in his tiny toddler bed which at the time seemed so big. I'm thinking about the first blog post ever with him as a baby and now he's in Kindergarten.

clary photo blog school.jpg

I've backspaced for the past 20 minutes trying to come up with the emotions...I can't write them down.

I'm out to play and smile with my new Kindergartner. I'll be back this evening with a wedding from Milwaukee.

but you can't take the meadows of the Midwest out of the girl.

1 Chicago engagement photographer clary pfeiffer.jpg2 Chicago engagement photographer clary pfeiffer.jpgA small peek into an engagement session from Chicago. The first is so breathtaking and peaceful. And yes, in the middle of Chicago I find a meadow tucked in the beautiful sky-rises of the city for Caroline and Chris' engagement session. What can I say, I'm a rebel:)

Now lets discuss the fact that ClaryPhoto has traveled Planes, Trains and Automobiles (seriously we traveled by all three) this past month to photograph amazing people in Milwaukee, Cape Cod and Chicago. It was quite the adventure and there is so much to show you from these weddings and sessions I can hardly stand it. But I'm super excited to be home!! This week two awesome events take place around here, the very exciting St. Louis Shoot Party and our 5 year old son starting Kindergarten.

Hughes is starting Kindergarten. Wow. Can you believe it?!!

If you're there on Wednesday, say hi if I've never met and to everyone I do know...give me a big hug and be nice on the questions;)

1 st. louis wedding photographer claryphoto.jpg

Jessica and Jon did everything themselves for their wedding day. Everything! And it was all perfect and so them. I adore it all, epesically the Mr. and Mrs.'s.

What do I mean by everything?

The Flowers
The Cupcakes
The Paper Goods
The DJing
all The Details, check out their guest suitcase.
Even the music Jessica walked down the aisle was composed by Jon. Swooning.

ust incredible--it's like they chose details of their wedding just to make it look photogenic in pictures!!! I love the relaxed, genuine feel to all of the pictures--these last two are gorgeous--I mean really, where in the heck do you find such beautiful people, weddings and locations? I swear that grass/greenery can't be real!

And kudos to them for doing so much of the wedding themselves--it seems to have had a very personal touch, and it's gorgeous!

Katherine says:

Clary, these are awesome! My favorite is the one of the wedding party in the background, doing their thing, with the bride and groom obliviously staring at each other...so cool! Can't wait for you to photograph us soon!

I was a guest at Jon & Jess' wedding, and am in awe of the pictures. They are gorgeous, you've captured the love that just shines between them! I especially love the one in the meadow with the sun setting behind them. This was truly a wonderful wedding, I have never felt so positive about two people getting married before. The relaxed, no-posing pictures are them, just having a blast & celebrating their love. I can't wait to see the rest. Wonderful job!

Billy and Kim met at the elemantary school where they both teach. The pastor that married them gave one of the best services I've heard and gave words of advice...from a group of grade schoolers that gave ansers on "what love is?". It was so much fun and so appropriate; I'm sharing two of my favorites. One simply funny and the other, the plain truth on love.

Love is...

A girl putting on perfume and a boy putting on cologne. They go eat together and stare into each others eyes.

Love is...

Knowing everything about one another, the good and bad, but still wanting to be around them, good and bad.

Visiting Hawaii changed my thought on photography, how the tangents to the real memory occur regardless of the amount of images.

On The North Shore our daily adventure was finding a new beach each day. There was a slue of surfing competitions and beauty so all of it was very exciting. At Turtle Bay Beach we made our station of towels, a Frisbee and camera. Bus after bus load tourist arrived in their Hawaiian tee shirts, tennis shoes and new cameras purchased just for their "dream vacation". They stayed on the rocks and took two shots of the turtles playing in the water. Then got back on the bus.

I wanted to stop each and every one of them. Make them take their shoes off, lay in the sand, let the sun turn their skin red while enjoying the way the clouds and water made such an amazing show of blues. Because they missed it.

I'm not patronizing the Hawaiian wearing, bus touring people because I'm one of them. I show up for vacation with my new swimming attire, sunglasses and camera empty of memory space waiting to be filled with "memories".

This vacation I challenged myself by just taking one roll of film and my last treasured pack of Polaroid 600 to force a limit. 26 shots only.

It was perfect. Hughes' new freckles appearing on his nose, his wonder on how exactly God fit the sound of the ocean inside a sea shell, Jettie falling asleep in my arms covered in sand that looked like sugar and how sweet it was she only collected the purple shells. The favorites from the 26 shots create small tangents to these vivid moments.
